The 31 Best Films Of 2011 - No. 14Animal Kingdom
Australian cinema is lost on me. Apart from Crocodile Dundee, I couldn’t name you a popular Australian film. Baz Lurhmann and his work distresses me to a point where you have no idea how petrified I am of his upcoming adaptation of Gatsby. Bish bash bosh, it’s safe to say I’m not the biggest admirer of Australian cinema. Animal Kingdom on the other hand is ground breaking.
The confidence that went into this extremely diverse crime film is hugely admirable. Jacki Weaver’s inconspicuous reprobate is one of the most terrifying characters I’ve seen on screen. The fact that you can’t work out the purpose of each of the characters due to their no thrills nature keep you gripped until the every end. Animal Kingdom is one of the most compelling dramas I’ve seen in recent years.
