I’ll admit the dialogue did eventually get to me. Towards the end of the film it did feel like someone was trying to fit their fist into my ear but that aside, Submarine is an originally brilliant example of British comedy. Even though a very simple concept, not everyone could pen a film this unique. Even if it does contain some autobiographical elements, Richard Ayoade still manages to create this character that in a small way we can all relate to but still so singular that you enjoy observing from a safe distance. Comedy has become such a hit or miss genre but knowing that we people like Ayode exist gives me a little bit more faith.
