The 31 Best Films Of 2011 - No. 19
Warrior
I really don’t have much time for MMA. I do, on the other hand, have a lot of time for Tom Hardy. Even since Bronson, I’ve been engrossed by how much of a powerhouse both his physical and emotional sides of his acting mantra can be. So you can imagine my excitement when I first saw the poster that feature Tom and his ‘I’ve got more muscles in my neck than you have in your entire body’ vigor.
I’m sure a lot of people that when to see this film weren’t at all interesting in cage fighting but the clever thing about Warrior is that there’s actually very little fighting in the first three quarters. It’s just a deep, compelling story of broken relationships that plays out so intensely that when the fighting actually comes, you’re fully ready for it and he strange way, craving it. It’s by no means a testosterone charging film. You don’t come out of it wanted to get the next bloke that makes eye contact into a head lock. It’s a drama about reconciliation where two people have to end up beating each other into next year to get there.
